When You're Strange

It seems high school obsessions always finds a way back into your life. It comes to you when you least expect it, like when your grocery shopping with your girl talking about dinner and shit and the doors come on over the intercom radio. You think WTF for a moment, why are the doors being played at a super market? But then when you think of Nirvana and other music that now falls under classic rock category, it actually makes sense in a 2010 kind of way. Everything is out of context nowadays. Truly fucking strange.

For those of you familiar with Oliver Stones Doors biopic starring Val Kilmer (yes), I must have watched that movie about 30 times. I had it on VHS back in 1996 when I was 16. I watched it over and over until one day I finally parted ways with it during a move to a new apartment. The year was 2001 and DVD's had then replaced VHS. I no longer owned a VHS player, nor had a DVD player. It was time to say goodbye.

Like Wu-Tang, Twin Peaks, and general 80's film nostalgia, the doors are making its way back into my life since 1999. I suppose things that leave a strong impression on you when your young stays with you 'til the end.

  1. i kinda picture you listening to the doors at like 50% speed. infact i kinda picture you listening to all your music at 1/2 speed underwater.
